INTERNING WITH THE INTERNATIONAL AMERICAN COUNCIL
The IAC is accepting internship applications for the Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter semesters, 2013, from qualified applicants who have a passion for contributing to the advancement of international politico-economic relations, social justice, democracy, rule of law, equal rights, and freedom of speech, press and assembly in the Middle East and North Africa.
The internships are unpaid, however, IAC will help interns receive academic credit if desired.
Interested applicants must be an undergraduate/graduate student or a recent graduate, preferably with an academic focus in international relations, political science, law, global studies, or government/public policy. Excellent written and spoken communication skills, a highly organized approach to work, reliability and a commitment to IAC’s vision and mission are essential. Proficiency in Farsi, Arabic, or Hebrew is highly desirable but not required.
Main responsibilities include assisting in scholarly research; writing news articles for both IAC’s blog and website; covering latest news, conferences, and speeches; and drafting policy analyses on issues related to U.S. foreign policy, the Arab Spring, socio-politics, socio-economics, immigration, civil rights, and human rights. Interns will have flexibility with what they decide to write about on IAC’s website and blog, but the subject matter should be relevant to the organization’s vision and mission. Various other tasks may also be assigned throughout the internship, including database management, community outreach, event planning, logistical support for staff activities, and other administrative duties.
The duration of the internship will be approximately 12 weeks. At the end of the internship, the intern will receive a formal letter verifying successful completion of the internship.
